The Delon Skirt was one of my Cyber Monday purchases. I was so excited for it to come and it and it did not disappoint. It has become one of my most favorite skirts that I own. I love the blue houndstooth print and how easy it to mix with other prints and colors. I will definitely be wearing it in the spring and the summer.
A girl I am friends with on Facebook posted this on the subject of New Year's resolution. It simply read "I don't call them New Years resolutions, I prefer the term casual promises I'm under no legal obligation to keep."
Of course, this made me laugh. There have been countless January 1st where I write this impressive list of how many times I'm going to go running in a week, or how much weight I want to lose, or this or that, and any other resolution we make to ourselves.
What stuck out to me the most about my friends Facebook status was the idea of a casual promise, the idea she was going to make a promise to herself but had no intention of keeping it.
I then remember something my Mission President said while I was serving a mission for The Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter Day-Saints. He said. "Let there be zero days that go by where you don't tell someone about how much Heavenly Father loves them"
as I have been reflecting on that message, I realize that I needed to make zero my resolution for 2016.
For example, My resolution list looks like this:
1. zero days where I don't sweat for an hour.
2. zero times where I compare myself to someone and their perfect Instagram life.
3. Zero days where I let fear stop me from doing all of the things I truly want to do.
Here is the thing. 2015 was a really hard year for me. It took me by surprise and I really had to evaluate what my view of what life really was. With that being said, I have this feeling that 2016 is going to be really, really good, but I have to hit the ground running in order to accomplish the items on my list that are going to make me be the best person that I can be. I don't have times to be making casual promises to myself. I definitely don't have time to be making a promise to myself that I have no intention of keeping.
So my advice is to make zero your goal. Whatever it might be, from the amount of money we want to save (zero times I spend over my budget) or if you want to see the world ( zero weeks that go by where I don't book something for my trip)
I want 2016 to just be so good. I have so many big plans and Ideas, and I just need to need to remember that zero is the perfect goal for me.
2016 is so close. Also, How is it already 2016?! So crazy and so exciting. I love the New Years and how it is so symbolic for a fresh new start, even though I am a firm believer that we do not have to wait until January 1st to make a change in our lives.
I love quotes, I would like to give a BIG SHOUT OUT to Pinterest for making them so accessible. I created a montage of all of my favorite quotes to get us all pumped for big things to happen in 2016.
I read two books this weekend, which is kinda weird because it has been months since I picked up and actually finished a book. With school, work, and projects, and treatment life just has not been filled with time for a whole lot of time for personal stuff. I recently created more time ( I'll explain that later, ha!) and I needed a way to fill it.
I had some extra time before work and I decided to peruse around a local bookstore. Bookstores make me feel so unconformable. I love bookstores because I love books. I hate bookstores because there are so many books, and I never know which one to choose which is where the uncomfortable feeling comes from.
I spotted HER on the shelf and it just spoke to me. I'm so glad I bought this book because it is such an incredibly written book. The book is a thriller and it is just so good. I highly recommend it. It's simply brilliant. The ending will leave you stunned, with your heart beating so fast. read it. read it write now.
I finished HER by Harriet Lane, in one day. It was the type of book where I stayed up all night to read. You just can't put it back down.
The second book I read was The Thing about Jellyfish by Ali Benjamin. Both Reese Witherspoon and Lauren Conrad mentioned this book, and I knew I had to read it. I initially wanted to read this book, but I found HER first (guys, it is so good)
The thing about Jellyfish is a beautiful story, almost magical. A 12-year-old has lost her best friend and you are thrown into a story that teaches that it is okay to grieve and that we all say goodbye in our own ways. I'm so glad this book is being made into a movie. The message is so powerful.
I am on a reading marathon right now. Two books in a weekend? go me!
My sweet grandmother passed away last week. As we have been planning her funeral, we came across these photographs that my grandfather took of her. They are so beautiful and I wanted to share a few of my favorites with you.
Instead of reflecting on loss, I am rejoicing in the knowledge that her and my grandfather have been reunited in the presence of our savior, after 15 years apart.
" O death where is thy sting, O grave? Where is thy Victory?"
I think we all have our secret dream jobs. For Example, my two secret dream jobs are: 1 an elephant trainer, 2 a florist. I love flowers, I love the idea of flowers, I love looking at flowers, I spend hours adding pictures to my flower board on Pinterest. ( Take a look at it, I think it is so pretty)
This weekend, My mother and I created flower arrangements consisting of tulips and Christmas berries. The end result was a simple, classic, and elegant look. I think this is a simple way to decorate for upcoming Christmas parties this week.
"There's been an awakening, can you feel it?" The new Star Wars movie is officially out, and I have to say it was worth all of the hype. I stood for two hours outside waiting in line so me and all of my friends could have good seats. It was so worth it. I have been the biggest fan of Star Wars since I was a little girl, and I was so excited for this movie. I honestly cannot wait to go see it again... Which might actually be tonight. I have created "The Nerdiest Gift Guide In This Galaxy " and I have filled it with the coolest Star Wars items for everyone on your list. If you haven't seen the new Star Wars Movie, you need to turn off your compute and go see it now.. and tell me what you think!
May the force be with you.
P.S I was having trouble with my old layout, so I updated a bit. Tell me if you like the new layout for Constellation & Canine. I would love your feedback.
